STORIES OUT WEST is an extraordinary opportunity for writers (ages 18+) from Greater Western Sydney (GWS) who are culturally, linguistically and ethnically diverse and are part of the LGBTQ+ community.
ACON and Sweatshop will publish a printed anthology of work from writers who are responding to their experiences of being LGBTQ+SB First Nations or LGBTQ+ and culturally, linguistically and ethnically diverse, with a connection to GWS. Selected writers will participate in a mentorship program with five weekly workshops to connect with each other and develop their work under the mentorship of Sweatshop writers, Winnie Dunn and Adrian Mouhajer.
The anthology will be launched during Sydney World Pride 2023 in a public free event at Club Parramatta.
What your involvement in STORIES OUT WEST will look like:
- Attend 5 weekly writing workshops from September to October 2022.
- Produce a piece of writing of up to 800-1000 words that responds to your experience of being LGBTQ+SB First Nations or LGBTQ+ and culturally, linguistically and ethnically diverse, with a connection to GWS.
- Opportunity to read or perform your work at a STORIES OUT WEST launch event during Sydney World Pride 2023.
- Contributors will be paid a fee of $200.
