We joined together during May 2020, in our virtual lounge room as and acknowledged and marked IDAHOBIT 2020. We meet two families from the western suburbs – talked about their lives – how they navigated having a diverse sexuality or gender, how they came out and how they thrived. We will also be launching Home Is Where Our Story Begins: Family, community, and belonging for sexuality and gender diverse CALD people. This report looks at the experiences of sexuality and gender diverse CALD people in Greater Western Sydney in relation to the marriage equality debate and relationships to family and community.
Together as a virtual community, we will hear and share stories of resilience, survival and hope. We will explore family relationships, the effect of the marriage equality debate, and how we can all come together to make our communities safe for everyone.
